A pensioner has been fined for driving without insurance in Letterkenny and spared a driving ban.
Balbir Singh told Letterkenny District Court that he underwent a medical procedure and didn’t receive an email to renew his insurance.
The 69-year-old, of The Green, Ballymacool, Letterkenny, was before the court in relation to an incident on April 12, 2026 at Port Road, Letterkenny.
Singh was not represented by a solicitor, but opted to represent himself in court, telling Judge Emile Daly: “Yes, ma’am, I am guilty.”
Sergeant Maurice Doyle informed the court that Singh was stopped on the Port Road at 11.22 on the date in question. He elected to produce documentation at Letterkenny Garda Station, but did not do so.
Judge Daly said that as Singh pleaded guilty and had no previous convictions she would not issue a disqualification.
