A man has been barred from Letterkenny after being charged with two counts of making demands for money with menaces.
Patrick Friel, who was brought before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Sunday evening by detectives, was granted bail with strict conditions attached.
Friel, 35, of Juniper Park, Derry is charged with two counts of making an unwarranted demand, to wit payment of monies from a man, with menaces.
The offences are alleged to have occurred on separate dates in 2022 at a location in Letterkenny and the charges are contrary to section 17 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994 as amended by section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act, 2008.
Bail conditions imposed include that he have no contact with any co-accused person, either directly or indirectly, including via social media.
He was also told to stay out of Letterkenny, save for attending court, legal appointments or medical appointments.
Friel was ordered to surrender his passport, not apply for a replacement and also to sign on three times a week at a Garda station in Donegal.
He must also: have no contact either directly or indirectly, including via social media, with any witnesses or alleged injured party; be available 24/7 on a mobile phone to Gardai; and be of good behaviour and commit no further offence.
