Limerick gardaí told to return seized underwear taken from man

A MAN who had his jeans and underwear confiscated by gardaí has succeeded in a court application to get his property returned to him.

Junior Fredrick, with a home address at Henry Street, Limerick city, had a tablet phone, a second phone, jean trousers and underwear taken by gardaí in 2024.

Solicitor Sarah Ryan made the Police Property Application on the man’s behalf.

On April 23, Limerick District Court heard that the matter was previously adjourned in March 2026, on request of the state.

Prosecuting Sergeant Denis Waters told the court: “The phones were downloaded... My instructions from the State are to ask for an adjournment.”

Judge Patricia Harney refused the application stating: “If I say for entry, I mean for entry.”

The judge then proceeded to grant the application, meaning Mr Fredrick will have the items returned to him.

She refused the state’s application for a second adjournment.
