HSE staff and community groups praise Killarney Greencare workshop initiative | RadioKerry.ie

Participants learned how nature based venues could maximise health benefits for both staff and clients at day care facilities and mental health centres

HSE staff and community and voluntary organisations have partaken in a Kerry workshop promoting health and wellbeing through nature based activities.

The Greencare workshop was led by Transition Kerry at the Killarney community gardens, developed by KASI - the Killarney Asylum Seekers Initiative – in Ballycasheen.

Participants learned how nature based venues could maximise health benefits for both staff and clients at day care facilities and mental health centres.

Staff from the HSE , Rathmore Social Action Group, Kerry Social Farming, South West Counselling and South Kerry Development partnership were among the organisations that attended the event.

Caroline Doyle is the principal community worker with the community work department at IHA Kerry - HSE.

She says she’s really encouraged by the enthusiasm and collaboration potential of the project.
