An appeal for information has been issued after a commemorative seat at the Gweebarra River viewpoint was found broken in pieces.
The bench sits at the popular viewpoint the N56 between Glenties and Dungloe, overlooking the Gweebarra River.
The seat was formally unveiled in April 2024 as part of the official opening of the upgraded stretch of the N56.

Following reports of the incident, Councillor Brian Carr has asked anyone with information about how the damage occurred to contact him privately.
“If anyone has any information about how this happened, please send me a private message,” Cllr Carr said.
“The matter has been reported to Donegal County Council and An Garda Síochána, and I’ll pass on any relevant information received.”
Cllr Carr also thanked the local residents who contacted him about the damaged seat.
