Kilkenny’s newest library wows Thomastown bookworms

By Dermot Keyes · KCLR · 21 May 2026

The long-awaited opening of Thomastown Library took place yesterday, to the delight of the local community.

The €4.6 million development has created a new cultural, community, educational and informational space in the town, just yards from the previous and much smaller library building on Marshe’s Street.

Speaking to KCLR News, Library Manager Johanna Brennan spoke about the excitement that she and her staff felt as they welcomed local bookworms into their new facility.
