Woman hands herself in to Letterkenny court

A WOMAN who was arrested on a Garda bench warrant has been fined for stealing €240 worth of cosmetics from a Letterkenny pharmacy.

Shauna Brady (42), formerly of Abbey Villas, Manorcunningham, but now living in Northern Ireland, appeared before Letterkenny District Court charged with the theft from Magee’s Pharmacy on Main Street, Letterkenny.

Detective Garda Donal Callaghan told the court he arrested Brady after she presented herself to Gardaí to have the warrant executed.

The court heard the theft occurred on July 20, 2022, when Gardaí were called to the pharmacy at 3.36pm.

Sergeant Jim Collins said CCTV footage showed Brady entering the store and leaving with €240 worth of cosmetics.

Brady later made full admissions to Gardaí, was fully co-operative and all of the items were recovered. The products were subsequently deemed fit for resale.

Solicitor Ceejay Byrne said her client had gone through a difficult period in her life and had struggled with addiction. However, she told the court Brady is now in recovery and living in Northern Ireland.

Judge Emile Daly convicted Brady and imposed a fine of €150, allowing six months for payment.
