Burglar admits eleven charges after Galway city break-ins

A 24-year-old man has pleaded guilty to a series of theft-related offences involving multiple victims on the Westside of Galway.

Justin Mulhall, the Farmhouse, Churchfield Way, Lower Churchfield, Cork , admitted eleven charges contrary to the Theft and Fraud Offences Act, at Galway Circuit Court.

The charges comprise two counts of burglary and nine counts of theft, committed on dates in March 2023 at locations including Slí Na Srutha and Cartúr Mór, Clybaun Road and Ballymoneen.

The offences include thefts of cash and various items of property from cars and the two burglaries relate to incidents of trespass and theft at properties at Cartúr Mór and Sli Na Srutha.

Mulhall replied guilty after each of the eleven charges was put him. Prosecuting counsel, Geri Silke BL, confirmed to the court that one remaining charge could be taken into consideration at sentencing.

Defence barrister, Jennifer Higgins BL asked that the court direct a report from the probation services. She said her client has no previous convictions and had issues with addiction. The court heard a co-accused was previously sentenced.

Judge Eoin Garavan directed the report and remanded the accused in custody to appear on July 24 for sentencing.
