Upgrading of signage has begun in this Kildare Municipal District

That’s according to an engineer for Kildare County Council (KCC), who delivered the information to a local councillor in attendance at the latest Athy MD meeting, which took place on Monday, September 21 last.

The discussion initially arose during the early stages of the meeting, when Fianna Fáil councillor Veralouise Behan motioned for KCC to upgrade its speed limit notification signage, ‘with a view to increasing visibility along the R417 in Kildangan’.

In response to her motion, KCC told Cllr Behan: [The] signage upgrade process has already started and will be ongoing over the next few months.”

KCC engineer Kevin Dunne also spoke and specified that the upgrading of signage across is currently being rolled out across the MD.

Shortly after this motion, Cllr Behan enquired with KCC about whether or not it had plans to add a ‘STOP’ sign at the exit of the Meadow Mill Estate in Athy.

KCC replied: “The MD office will review and install [the sign] if required.”
