Near the end of this meeting, Cllr O’Loughlin raised the subject via the submission of the following question: “Can KCC confirm if any solution has been found to the continuous problem of sheep wandering off The Curragh ?”

Cllr Brian O'Loughlin (Fianna Fáil) | FILE PHOTOGRAPH He also noted that sheep had reportedly been wandering off ‘specifically at Brownstown , Knocks Cross, Cutbush and Suncroft ’.

Replying to his question, KCC revealed that the Municipal District Office had previously investigated the possibility of installing a sheep grid on the L3007 road in Brownstown.

However, KCC added: “It was determined not to be feasible due to the presence of existing services in the road.”

Speaking further on the matter, he urged KCC to liase with the Department of Agriculture , Food and the Marine in relation to the issue.

Following his suggestion, Mayor Doyle told Cllr O’Loughlin: “I would recommend taking this up with other bodies offline.”
