Plans for a colourful new playground in Malin have been given the green light by Donegal County Councillors.

Councillors formally approved the carrying out of works for the proposed development at Drumcarbit, with the motion proposed by Cllr Martin Farren and seconded by Cllr Ali Farren.

The new playground will be developed on an existing recreational area beside the car park on the R243 in Malin.

Plans show a wide range of equipment designed for children of different ages and abilities, including swings with an inclusive seat, toddler, junior and senior multi-play units, a seesaw, springer and rocker.

There are also some more innovative additions, including a musical chimes play panel, sensory play equipment and a wheelchair-accessible inclusive roundabout.

Proposed site layout for the new Malin playground as supplied by Donegal County Council.

The playground will be divided into different play zones with coloured safety surfacing and will also include seating, new fencing, gates, landscaping and signage.

The wider Part 8 plans approved on Monday provide for a range of play equipment, safety surfacing and associated works.
