On Tuesday last, St. Tiernach's Park, Clones played host to a festival of football for the Project Children initiative, which promotes cross-border and cross community peace and friendship.
A cross community blitz, which brought children from different communities on both sides of the border together to play football, was followed by a unique exhibition match between the Monaghan/Cavan/Louth Garda Divisional team and the NYPD team.
The event was marking the legacy of over 50 years of the Project Children initiative, which promotes understanding, friendship and peace, aiming to share the stories, friendships and lasting connections that have touched generations on both sides of the Atlantic.
Killian McGeough was in Clones for the event, where he caught up with a few of those involved in the event and got an idea of how important an initiative like Project Children is in the modern day.
