There was an accident at An Chrannóg over the weekend. The 60kph road, which has broken lines, has seen eight collisions in the last year.

The issue was raised at the May Glenties Municipal District meeting by Sinn Féin Councillor John Sheamais Ó Fearraigh.

“It is only a matter of time before someone is killed on this busy stretch of road,” Cllr Ó Fearraigh warned. “Accidents are still happening and something needs to be done by the council.”

Brendan McFadden, Area Manager for Roads and Transportation, confirmed that the road design team had met and the collisions were discussed. A road safety assessment will be undertaken in 2027.

In the short term, signage will be erected and a speed van will visit the area.
