Concern over 'excessive speeding' and driving behaviour on one Kildare road

There has been ‘significant concern’ over 'excessive speeding' and ‘dangerous’ driving behaviour on a road situated in County Kildare .

That’s according to Independent Cllr Pat Balfe, who made the comments via motion that he submitted during the latest Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District meeting, which took place on Wednesday, June 17 last.

During the early stages of this meeting, Cllr Balfe motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to undertake ‘an assessment of traffic conditions on the L7028 at Maddenstown, with a view to introducing appropriate traffic calming and road safety measures in order to address excessive speeding and dangerous driving behaviour’.

According to Cllr Balfe, these occurrences have been ‘causing significant concern among local residents’.

His motion was seconded by Social Democrats Cllr Chris Pender.

KCC added: “ Some traffic calming measures were previously installed here, but the assessment will help identify if additional measures should be implemented.”
