A DONEGAL man was charged with growing €2,400 worth of drug-producing plants at home.
Steven Cravagan (44) is charged that he illegally cultivated opium poppy, cannabis, and erythroxylon, which is the source of cocaine.
Growing such plants without a controlled drug licence is an offence under Section 17 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977.
The plants were found by gardaí during a raid at his flat at Court Manor House, Justice Walsh Road, Letterkenny.
Cravagan was not present during Tuesday’s sitting at Letterkenny District Court when his case was heard.
Judge Emile Daly accepted jurisdiction based on the value of the drugs.
Garda Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that gardaí could disclose their evidence by the end of October.
Cravagan will continue on bail until October 23, when he is due to appear back before Letterkenny District Court.
