An application has been lodged with Longford County Council to demolish a derelict two-storey terraced house on Richmond Street in Longford town and replace it with a three-storey block of nine apartments.

The planning application which is still at the pre-validation stage, meaning it has not yet been formally validated by Longford County Council, outlined a proposal for six one-bedroom apartments, three two-bedroom apartments, onsite car parking. boundary walls. onsite communal refuse storage area, bicycle storage rails and all ancillary site development works

In a cover letter, Longford engineer Mark Cunningham said the dwelling being proposed for demolition had been in a derelict state "for a long number of years and is be- yond repair."

Mr Cunningham added that the applicant - listed on file as Eoin McGinnity - was the owner of the buildings on either side of the proposed development.

If the application is validated by Longford County Council, a decision is expected to be retuned by June 17.
