THE killer who went on the run before being tracked down to a mobile home in Donegal last week was today remanded in custody.
Gary Anderson, 29, absconded after being permitted to attend his father’s funeral in Derry earlier this month.
He had been on the run for nine days before he was arrested by Gardaí at a mobile home in Fahan near Buncrana on Wednesday of last week.
Anderson was brought before a special sitting of Letterkenny District Court on Thursday and was remanded in custody.
He appeared by videolink before the court this morning (Monday).
The court was told by Garda Sergeant Jim Collins that directions from the Director of Public Prosecutions were not ready. He asked for a two week adjournment in the case.
Anderson was sentenced in 2023 to 15 years for the murder of Karol Kelly in Derry.
He failed to return to prison on Monday, September 14 when on temporary release for his father’s funeral.
Anderson is charged with being present at Fahan Marina caravan and campsite on September 23, having escaped from Maghaberry Prison, contrary to Section 3(1) of the Criminal Law (Jurisdiction) Act 1976.
Judge Emile Daly adjourned the case until Monday, October 12.
