Caoimhin Treacy A LOCAL councillor has pleaded for a car park in Ballymore Eustace.

At the most recent meeting of Naas Municipal District, cllr Evie Sammon proposed that the council looks into the delivery of a car park “to support local businesses and encourage a Park and Stride for the local school”.

Senior executive officer for transport, mobility and open spaces Mark McLoughlin issued the council’s response, which said that the local authority’s road safety and sustainable transport officer is available to discuss the matter and to explore available options.

Cllr Sammon was not happy with the response, suggesting that the council executive have a different agenda to her. She noted Ballymore has an older population and said that “it is not fair to expect these people to have car parking removed from them on an ongoing basis”.

She added that there is space for a park and stride in the village.

Mr McLoughlin indicated that there would be further discussions on the matter.
