A medical report is awaited for a Killybegs man charged with two serious assaults.

James Spendley, a 59-year-old, is before the court charges with offences in Killybegs in 2023 and 2024.

He appeared via videolink at a sitting of Donegal District Court in Ballyshannon courthouse.

Spendley, with an address at St Cummin’s Hill, Killybegs, is charged that he assaulted a person and caused them harm at Harbour View Drive, Killybegs, on a date unknown prior to June 4, 2024, a charge contrary to section

He is also charged with making a threat to kill in relation to the same incident. That charge is contrary to section 5 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Spendley is charged with an another assault causing harm at Harbour View Drive, on April 7, 2023.

He also faces a charge of causing criminal damage to spectacles on the same date and at the same location, contrary to section 2 (1) of the Criminal Damage Act, 1991.

Garda Sergeant Oliver Devaney told the court that a medical report is awaited. Sergeant Devaney added that a book of evidence is also being prepared.

Spindly was remanded on the same terms by Judge Ciaran Liddy to appear again via video link at the September 2 sitting of Donegal District Court.
