A man attended a Donegal Garda station to get a form signed - and promptly found himself in court on a raft of outstanding charges.

Jamie Murphy was hauled before Letterkenny District Court having been arrested by Gardai at Buncrana Garda Station.

Murphy, a 44-year-old with an address at Creggan Heights in Derry and formerly with an address in Dublin, presented at the station to get a form sign.

Gardai conducted a person check upon the Garda PULSE system and found an active bench warrant in existence.

Murphy was subsequently arrested and he made no reply when the warrant was executed.

There were no Garda objections to bail and the matter was remanded back to the Criminal Courts of Justice (CCJ) in Dublin on November 9 by Judge Ciaran Liddy.

Murphy is charged with alleged incidents at Summerhill, Dublin from October 9, 2023. He was charged with using threatening, abusive of insulting words or behaviour, contrary to section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act 1994.

He was also charged with failing to comply with the direction of a member of An Garda Síochana, contrary to section 8 of the same Act.

Murphy was also charged with a failure to attend a court sitting, contrary to section 13 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

Murphy also faces three charges arising out of an alleged incident at Talbot Street, Dublin on December 19, 2023.

He is charged with using threatening, abusive of insulting words or behaviour; with failing to give a Garda his name and address, contrary to section 24 (2) and (3) of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994; and with obstructing a Garda in the execution of their duty, contrary to section 19 of the same Act.
