A Co Cavan publican has called on the government to deliver more supports for rural pubs in Budget 2027.

Killian's Lodge owner Michael Farrelly says rural pubs needs support to make sure they are kept going.

He said they play a very important part in rural areas up and down the country.

Michael's comments come following a report last week that highlighted 1 in 4 pubs have closed over the past 20 years.

During that period, 47 pubs have closed in Cavan and 41 in Monaghan.

Michael says support from any locality is so important in keeping the doors open in any pub. Ronan went along to Mullagh and spoke with Tommy Tyrell from Tyrell's bar and Michael from Killian's Lodge.
