Council staff do only good jobs in West Limerick

FIANNA Fáil councillor Michael Collins called for a safety audit to be carried out at the junction at Broadford village where the L1311 and the R515 meet to consider restricting the parking of vehicles too close to the junction, inhibiting adequate, and proper sightlines.

Cllr Collins, who attended the recent Newcastle West district meeting online, told Council members he thought the issue was currently being dealt with. However, unable to check an email he received from area engineers ahead of the meeting, he said “I don’t know if ye did a good job, or a bad job, or a mediocre job”.

A response from district Senior Executive Engineer Ben Noonan revealed that the location in question had been reviewed and considered by the roads engineer. Cllr Collins was also informed of plans to install upgraded road markings and double yellow lines at both sides of the junction, with works due to take place in the coming weeks.

“Can I just thank ye. Ye are mighty men and women for getting the job done,” the Fianna Fáil man replied.
