A young Letterkenny man previously given the benefit of the Probation Act has been convicted after his latest public order charge.

The case of Oisin Logue was heard before Letterkenny District Court.

The 21-year-old, of Fernhill, Letterkenny was charged with an incident at that address on June 22, 2026.

Logue was charged with using threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour in a public place, contrary to section 6 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994.

Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that Gardai observed a group of youths in the Fernhill area at 11.27pm.

When Gardai approached, Sergeant Doyle said that Logue became “aggressive and he was shouting aloud at Gardai”.

The court heard that when asked if there was an issue, Logue “tried to walk past and pushed past members.

He was then arrested and conveyed to Letterkenny Garda Station.

The court was informed that Logue has had “substantial issues” with alcohol in the past and is currently receiving treatment.

Logue has previously been charged with public order matters and the Probation Act was applied last year.

“He got the Probation Act benefit before so he is not getting it now,” Judge Emile Daly said.

Logue was convicted and fined €200. He was given four months to pay the fine.
