A MAN has been granted bail after he breached a domestic violence protection order for the 14th time.
The defendant, who is in his 30s and who cannot be named to protect the alleged injured party, appeared in Letterkenny District Court today.
Breaching a protection order is an offence contrary to Section 33 of the Domestic Violence Act 2018.
Sergeant Jim Collins told the court that bail conditions had been agreed with the defendant.
The court also heard that the man had indicated a guilty plea.
Judge Emile Daly ordered the man be released on his own bond of €200. She said he must abide by a number of conditions including the protection order he breached.
He is also ordered to stay at his mother’s address and make no contact whatsoever, directly or indirectly, with the alleged injured party.
He must sign on at a named garda station every Monday between the hours of 9am and 9pm and remain contactable to gardaí at all times.
The man must also attend a GP within a week to discuss treatment.
The court also heard that there was an issue with outstanding maintenance.
The accused had previously been ordered to pay €1,000 per month but had not paid anything since July.
His solicitor, Patsy Gallagher, told the court that alcohol had taken over his client’s life in the past few months.
Mr Gallagher said the man’s family was in court to take him home.
