A lot of locals are concerned about dangerous driving

Caoimhin Treacy Excessive speeding and dangerous driving in a Kildare village are causing “significant concern for local residents”, with local authorities set to carry out an assessment of traffic conditions.

This emerged at the most recent meeting of Kildare-Newbridge Municipal District (MD), where cllr Pat Balfe proposed that Kildare County Council carries out “an assessment of traffic conditions on the L7028 at Maddenstown with a view to introducing appropriate traffic calming and road safety measures to address excessive speeding and dangerous driving behaviour, which is causing significant concern among local residents”.

MD engineer Carthac De Brí issued the council’s response, stating that the MD office will carry out the assessment. The response noted that calming measures were previously installed, and the assessment will help to find out if additional measures are needed.

Cllr Balfe welcomed the response and noted a recent incident at the location in question where a child was struck by a recovery truck. The child has made a full recovery.
