Specifically, Fianna Fáil councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to carry out the repairs at Murphy’s Lock in Ballyteague.

In response, KCC told him via the report it presented at the meeting: “The Municipal District Engineer will meet with Cllr Fitzpatrick onsite to assess this request and advise what is possible in 2026.”

Since then, Cllr Fitzpatrick appeared on KFM on June 10 as a guest, and asserted that the onsite meeting will take place soon.
