Bunch of clowns: Councillor blasts circus for littering - Donegal Daily

A Donegal councillor has blasted a circus company for failing to take down their posters following their shows in Annagry in July.

Cllr Micheál Choilm Mac Giolla Easbuig has blasted a circus company for not removing their posters from telephone poles in the West Donegal area.

Circus Corvenieo had been in Dungloe for a number of shows in May.

However, local councillor Mac Giolla Easbuig has expressed his annoyance at the company's failure to remove all their marketing materials that are dotted all over the area.

In a post on Facebook, he said the local community deserved better and described the act of littering as disrespectful.

"Everybody loves to see the circus coming to town, but what they don't love to see is their waste with all their posters being left behind. I spoke to them, and I asked them to remove all their posters, but that hasn't happened - and they are everywhere.

It's really, really disrespectful, and it's not fair on the community, and especially those who work so hard to keep our area clean."

Earlier today, the government announced it was going to increase the fines being issued to litter bugs.

People caught littering or failing to pick up dog waste will face a €250 fine from today as on-the-spot penalties increase by €100.

The jump in fines aims to send a clear message that littering is unacceptable and that "the polluter must pay".

No dog fouling fines have been issued in Donegal in the last four years.
