Ronan Gargan brought the Wider View live from Kingscourt Livestock Mart yesterday afternoon to put a focus on farm related issues especially surrounding farm safety.

Ronan found out about how education is such a powerful tool when it comes to being safe on farms; for people of all ages; and the awareness aspect to visiting or working on a farm.

Lisa Keenan of Kingscourt Livestock Mart spoke about the benefits to having a mart in a town centre. Indeed, the social aspect, TB restricted sales and what trade is like now; and what the trade is excepted to be like in the coming months.

Eamonn and Niamh Monahan, a father and daughter from Inniskeen, has been on a mission since they had a significant sheep kill by a dog on their farm. They are looking for tougher laws around sheep kills. Furthermore, Niamh is also a teacher and is behind the only school in the country to hold a full day of farm safety education yearly; at her Co Monaghan school.

Alma Jordan from AgriKids she set up the organisation to help educate children of all ages about the dangers of farms and how she is empowering children with this awareness.
