A Ramelton man has been disqualified from driving and fined a total of €600 after being caught without insurance.

The case of Bradley William Lewis Coyle was before Letterkenny District Court.

Coyle, a 20-year-old of Cul na Cille, Ramelton, was charged in connection with an incident at Navenny Street, Ballybofey on November 12, 2025.

Garda Liam O’Riordan gave evidence that he was on duty on the night in question when he stopped a black BMW 320 at 10.55pm and made a lawful demand for Coyle to produce his insurance or a certificate of exemption.

Having elected to produce documents at Milford Garda Station, Coyle did not so the court heard.

Coyle, who the court heard has no previous convictions, was not present in court and was not legally represented when his case was called.

For driving without insurance, Judge Emile Daly convicted Coyle and fined him €350, allowing four months to pay. Coyle was also banned from driving for two years with Judge Daly noting that he was not present and was on notice to be at the court.

For failing to produce insurance, Coyle was convicted and fined €250. He was given four months to discharge the fine.
