Laois man in court for having

A MAN whose car registration plates were coloured and obscured by dirt was summonsed before Portlaoise District Court for displaying non-conforming identification plates on his vehicle.

Garda Foy said that while on mobile patrol on 29 March at Green Mill Lane, Portlaoise, he stopped a driver after detecting that both his back and front number plates were obscured.

Her said he issued the defendant Jake Peter Andrews (21), Morette, Emo with fixed penalty notices that went unpaid.

Garda Foy said that the defendant has no previous convictions.

Producing photographic evidence of the number plates, Garda Foy told Judge Andrew Cody: “The number plates are yellow and dirty. You have to look hard enough if you want to see the numbers on them.”

Judge Cody said: “I always regard dodgy number plates as a serious offence. These are dodgy number plates designed to avoid garda attention.”
