A MAN alleged to have driven at high speed is being prosecuted for dangerous driving, Tullamore District Court has been told.

John Nettleship (40), Burke's Hill, Birr is accused of dangerous driving on April 26 last at Ballindown, Birr.

Asked by Judge Andrew Cody what the nature of the alleged offence was, Garda Pat McGee said it was “high speed” of “around” 170km/h and he was waiting on CCTV footage.

Judge Cody ordered that disclosure of evidence be made to defending solicitor Brian Duffy within three weeks and put the prosecution back to June 17 when either a plea will be entered or a date will be fixed for a hearing.
