September court date for man on Offaly drugs, knife and motoring charges

DIRECTIONS are awaited from the DPP in the case of a man accused of drugs, knife and motoring offences in Edenderry and Ballinagar .

Sergeant Richard Thornton told Tullamore District Court that the prosecution of Darren Caffery (42), St Colmcille's Road, Edenderry could be adjourned to September for directions and the file had gone to the DPP.

Mr Caffery is alleged to have committed a number of offences on December 4 last year at Sister Senan Avenue, Edenderry.

These are driving without a licence and insurance, possession of the controlled drug Alprazolam, and possession of a knife.

Further motor insurance and licence offences were allegedly committed on January 6 last on the R402 road at Ballinagar, along with possession of diamorphine, and possession of diamorphine for sale or supply to others.

He is similarly accused of possession of cocaine and Alprazolam, and a knife, on that occasion in Ballinagar.

Mr Caffery also faces charges involving having Alprazolam, diamorphine and cocaine for sale or supply to others on January 14 last at St Colmcille's Road, Edenderry.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded him on continuing bail to appear in court on September 23 next for directions from the DPP.
