Letter to be sent to TII regarding traffic calming in Kilmacrennan

A letter will be sent to Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) regarding traffic-calming measures in Kilmacrennan.

The motion was brought forward by Cathaoirleach Councillor Pauric McGarvey and seconded by Councillor Liam Blaney at the July meeting of the Letterkenny/Milford Municipal District.

Currently, a 50 km/h speed limit is in place on the N56 through the village of Kilmacrennan and a proposal has been made to increase the speed limit to 60km/h.

“I am requesting a letter to be sent due to fears in the village,” Cllr McGarvey said. “I ask this council to respect the locals' wishes that it not be increased. Urgent intervention is needed by TII for the safety of everyone.”

Senior Executive Engineer, David McIlwaine, has agreed to write to TII on the issue.
