A protest was held in Cavan Town at the weekend to highlight this issue.

They say they feel let down by the Government; and believe they are being discriminated against because of the county they live in.

Local mother Rachel Kearns says it's a postcode lottery; and because she lives in Cavan, her two boys are left behind.

She says early intervention is crucial but for her children and for so many others that have complex needs are nothing getting the services they need.

Rachel also highlighted that it's not just children that are being forgotten about and left on waiting lists for years but adults too.

She said the fighting for access to crucial and key services never stops and will continue until her death bed for her boys.

Serena Dawson is a mother of three children with additional needs and she says her children have been waiting up to 8 years for much needed services.

Serena has been battling the Irish healthcare system for years and she says it's just so unfair. Ronan Gargan has this report.
