Consultations taking place across Donegal on speed limit by-laws

A series of consultations are taking place across Donegal on the Road Traffic By-Laws 2026.

The drop-in events are aimed at informing the public and gathering submissions, with feedback invited until July 23, 2026.

Donegal County Council has undertaken a speed limit review of all public roads in towns, villages and settlements with an existing speed limit of 60km/h or lower. These speed limits have been assessed in accordance with the Department of Transport guidelines and proposed changes recommended.

The Council is running a 30-day statutory consultation period including drop-in events in each Municipal District (MD). Proposals which include the introduction of several 30km/h Urban Zones will be presented on colour-coded maps.

For the Lifford /Stranorlar MD, the event will take place at the Base Enterprise Centre, Stranorlar on Monday, June 22 from 3pm until 7pm. The Inishowen drop-in will take place at Carndonagh Public Services Centre (Council Chamber) on Tuesday, June 23 from 3pm to 7pm. The Donegal MD consultation will take place in Donegal Town Public Service Centre on Wednesday, June 24 from 3pm until 7pm. On June 30, at Dungloe Public Service Centre (Council Chamber), the Glenties MD consultation will be held from 3pm until 6pm.

The Letterkenny/Milford consultations will take place in Milford Public Services Centre (Community Room) on Thursday, July 2 from 10am to 1pm and also in Letterkenny Public Services Centre (Council Chamber) from 3pm to 7pm.
