A MAN appeared before Tullamore District Court in connection with an offence involving the recording of an intimate image.

Reporting restrictions prevent the publication of the name of the 34-year-old man in order to protect the identity of the alleged injured party.

Sergeant Brendan Kearns, court presenter, said the DPP had directed that the matter could be disposed of summarily.

Disclosure of evidence was sought by defending solicitor, Patrick Martin.

Judge Andrew Cody remanded the accused to appear in court again on June 17 next for either a plea of guilty or a hearing.

The intimate image is alleged to have been recorded in a car park without the injured party's consent last year contrary to the Harassment, Harmful Communications and Related Offences Act.
