A man arrested for alleged theft was refused bail at a sitting of Letterkenny District Court this week.

A MAN arrested for alleged theft was refused bail at a sitting of Letterkenny District Court this week.

Garda Morrissey told the court that he had an objection to bail, given the defendant’s previous breaches of bail conditions and habitual re-offending.

The matter was heard in camera, meaning the defendant cannot be named.

The defendant had been previously granted bail in Tuam Courthouse on April 11.

An agreement to bail was reached under the conditions of an independent cash bond of €800, and that the defendant sign on twice daily at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Further conditions were imposed, including that he complies with a night time curfew, remains sober, is available at all times by mobile phone, and is of good behaviour.

However, the defendant could only produce €150 towards his bail bond and was remanded in custody until April 27 with consent to bail.
