The woman, aged in her 50’s, was taken to UHW with serious injuries

Darragh Murphy Progress is being made in the case relating to the church stabbing that occurred in Tramore in July.

The incident occurred shortly before 10am mass, when a woman aged in her 50s was allegedly stabbed whilst saying the rosary at the Holy Cross Church.

The woman was later taken to University Hospital Waterford (UHW) with serious injuries.

The man accused in relation to the incident, Niall Cummins (36) of The Willows, Clarinwood, Tramore, has been in custody since.

Progress is now being made through the courts, and a file is with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

Confirmation of a timeline for the completion of a Book of Evidence is expected.

Judge Kevin Staunton has remanded Cummins in custody to September 22 to allow for further progress to be made in the case.
