Seventy-five-year-old man on Offaly charges has 'very good' solicitor

A MAN on a knife possession charge has also been accused of committing public order offences.

When Brendan McDonnell (75), Rathgreedon Lane, Edenderry appeared before Tullamore District Court he was asked by Judge Andrew Cody if he had a solicitor.

The man is accused of possession of a knife, public drunkenness and engaging in threatening, abusive or insulting behaviour at JKL Street, Edenderry on June 26 last.

Electric Picnic reveals official festival jersey with profits going to charity Judge Cody told Mr McDonnell he was instructing the gardai to give full details of the case against him to Ms Maloney within three weeks.

Mr McDonnell was remanded on continuing bail to appear in court again on October 7 where a plea of guilty or not guilty will be entered.

If he denies the charges a hearing will take place on November 2, Judge Cody said.

The judge advised the accused man to speak to his solicitor in the meantime.
