Fianna Fáil councillor Daragh Fitzpatrick made the appeal at the latest Clane - Maynooth MD meeting, which took place on Friday, September 4 last.

During this meeting, he motioned for Kildare County Council (KCC) to ‘investigate the possibility of installing solar powered warning signs at dangerous junctions in this MD’.

According to Cllr Fitzpatrick, he wanted this carried out ‘in the interest of safety’.

In response to his request, KCC said via the report it presented at the meeting: “The MD Office installs solar powered traffic warning signs where deemed appropriate in line with KCC’s Traffic Calming Guidelines and the Traffic Signs Manual.”

KCC added: “These are assessed for suitability at junctions on a site-specific basis.”
