Driving without insurance ‘unacceptable’ says judge - News - Roscommon Herald

The case against a 19-year-old man prosecuted for no insurance was adjourned at a sitting of Roscommon District Court.

Mario Kompus, 8 Bank Gardens, Roscommon, appeared before Judge James Faughnan for with driving without insurance. The incident happened on August 10th, 2025 at Clooneybeirne, Roscommon.

His solicitor Con Harlow told the court that his client drove his father’s car as a sick child needed medical attention.

The accused was working as a fitter and had a full Irish licence, the judge was told.

He had disposed of his own car which was why he had no insurance, the solicitor said.

Judge Faughnan asked the accused when he last had insurance and was informed that it was in July.

The judge put the matter back for testimonials, saying the accused’s behaviour was not good enough.

He also questioned why the accused did not transfer the insurance to his father’s car.

“It’s unacceptable. He’s 15 years in the country,” the judge said.
