Offaly gardai will allege man had knife with eight-inch blade

Accused also facing charges of possessing realistic imitation firearm and assault

GARDAI will allege that a man accused of weapons offences had an imitation firearm and a knife with an eight-inch blade, Tullamore District Court heard.

A book of evidence was served on Kevin Davis (37), Ballinvalley, Killeigh and he was sent for trial to the Circuit Court by Judge Andrew Cody.

Mr Davis was sent on four charges, all alleged to have been committed in Birr on January 12 last.

He is accused of having a realistic imitation firearm, a knife, assaulting a woman, causing her harm, and threatening to kill or cause serious harm to a woman.

The man is currently in custody and during a bail application Sergeant Donal Casey said the garda evidence would be that he was found in possession of a knife with an eight-inch blade and an incident was captured on CCTV.

Judge Cody sent the man for trial to Tullamore Circuit Court, sitting on April 14 next.

He remanded him in custody with consent to bail but ordered that if Mr Davis is admitted to bail, he must observe a curfew and report daily to Tullamore Garda Station.

The accused also faces two other charges which remain before the District Court.
