Drugs worth €800 allegedly possessed for sale by man in Offaly town

CANNABIS allegedly possessed by a man in Edenderry was valued at €800, Tullamore District Court was told.

Sergeant Richard Thornton told the court that the DPP had directed that the case against Dylan Cole (22), Killane, Edenderry, could be disposed of summarily, meaning it will remain in the District Court.

Mr Cole is accused of possessing cannabis at Killane Drive, Edenderry on July 1 last, and possessing cannabis for sale or supply to others.

He is also accused of obstructing a garda when he was informed that he was going to be searched under Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.

Judge Andrew Cody ordered that details of the case against the man be disclosed to his solicitor Aisling Maloney, and he remanded Mr Cole on continuing bail to appear in court again on October 7 next.

The judge ordered that the accused enter a plea on that date and if the plea is not guilty, a hearing will take place on November 2.
