A Donegal man has pleaded guilty to hijacking a car, which was later involved in a ramming incident with a Garda patrol car.
Jonathan Glenn appeared before Letterkenny Circuit Court, where he pleaded guilty to a charge relating to January 14, 2018.
The 43-year-old, who has addresses in Raphoe and Derry, was charged with the unlawful seizure of a motor vehicle, a silver Ford Mondeo, at Lidl, Port Road, Letterkenny.
The charge, which is contrary to section 10 of the Criminal Law (Jurisdiction) Arm 1976, is that Glenn unlawfully seized by force the vehicle, which was being driven by a woman.
Glenn spoke only to plead guilty when he was formally arraigned before Judge John Aylmer.
His barrister, Mr Peter Nolan BL, instructed by solicitor Mr Donough Cleary, said that a psychiatric report was handed in which confirmed that Glenn was capable of instructing his legal team.
Glenn faces a number of charges relating to the same date and barrister for the State, Ms Fiona Crawford BL, said that Glenn could, at this stage, plead guilty to one count without prejudice.
Mr Nolan told the court that a probation and welfare report would be “of importance”.

He said that a full report would be of use due to the background circumstances of Glenn.
Judge Aylmer requested the probation and welfare report, to include an assessment as to Glenn’s suitability for community service.
Glenn was remanded in custody to the next session of Letterkenny Circuit Court.
Glenn also faces a charge that he unlawfully took possession of the silver Ford Mondeo without the consent of the owner.
Glenn was charged with assaulting a woman, the owner of the car, at Lidl, Port Road, Letterkenny and with causing criminal damage to the same vehicle
The defendant has been charged with causing criminal damage of €7,000 to a Garda Patrol Car at Stralongford, Drumkeen on the same date, while he faces a charge of dangerous driving at Stralongford, Drumkeen and of driving without a driving licence or insurance.
A previous District Court hearing heard how the eight-year-old charges caught up with Glenn when he came to the attention of Gardai for being drunk in a public place in May. At that stage, at Letterkenny District Court, Judge Emile Daly remanded Glenn in custody.
