A Donegal man who has been charged with four different counts of breaching a safety order has been ordered to stay out of south Donegal.

The man, who is in his 30s, was before Donegal District Court, sitting at Ballyshannon Courthouse.

The accused man, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to the nature of the charges, was ordered by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham not to travel south of Barnesmore Gap except for court appearances.

He faces four different counts of breach a safety order in different dates in 2026. The offences are contrary to section 33 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2018.

A Garda gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of the man.

After one of the charges, he asked the Garda: “What was that date?” and responded: “Okay” when told.

The Garda confirmed that the man was then handed a true copy of the charge sheets.

The man was not legally represented and, when asked by Judge Éiteáin Cunningham if he wanted a solicitor, he told the court: “I am being ransacked today again.”

Sergeant Oliver Devaney said there was no objection to bail, but he sought conditions to be applied.

The man must: reside at a name address; not travel to south Donegal, specifically south of Barnesmore Gap, save for court appearances; comply with the terms of the safety order; and not contact the applicant by any means.
