Carlow homelessness hub goes to tender - Clonmore - Carlow Nationalist

Laoise Murray CARLOW County Council has issued a new three-year tender contract worth €4.5 million for the operation of a family homelessness hub in Carlow town.

It is looking for a business to provide, operate and manage a family homelessness hub in the town at a nominated location.

There were 56 adults and 38 children in emergency accommodation in June, with 36 adults and 26 children presenting as homeless during the same month.

In a statement, Carlow County Council said: ‘The issue of such a tender does not in any way indicate a shortfall in the provision of any service, rather a duty to meet procurement standards.’ The estimated value of the tender is €4.5 million, excluding VAT, and the contract is for an estimated three years. The procurement documents state that the contract is not suitable for small and medium-sized enterprises.
