A BATHING prohibition has been introduced at Ballyalla bathing area following elevated levels of bacteria in routine water samples.

Clare County Council raised a Red Flag at the Ballyalla bathing area today, Friday, August 28, on the advice of the HSE.

Clare County Council said routine bathing water samples showed elevated levels of bacteria.

The council will continue to monitor water quality at Ballyallia and provide further updates as results become available.
