A RAMELTON man has been sent forward for trial charged with assault.

Barry McGarvey (45) of Castle Street, Ramelton, was charged with an alleged assault at Conway’s Bar in Ramelton on July 7, 2024.

The book of evidence was served on McGarvey at Letterkenny District Court on Monday by Garda Page.

Sergeant Jim Collins said the Director of Public Prosecutions was consenting for the defendant to go forward to trial.

The case has been sent forward to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, commencing on May 5.

Judge Emile Daly administered the alibi warning, and bail was set at €150.

A section 56 order was made to provide the defendant’s custody interview recordings to his legal team.

Legal aid was sought by defence solicitor, Mr Patsy Gallagher and one counsel was requested for the circuit court hearing.
