A 39-year-old man facing a lengthy list of alleged offences, including multiple thefts, burglaries and public intoxication, has been granted bail.

Krzisztof Siergiej, a 39-year-old with no fixed abode appeared before Donegal District Court.

Siergiej was already facing a raft of charges and was further charged on Wednesday morning before the court sitting at Ballyshannon courthouse.

A Garda gave evidence of the arrest, charge and caution of Siergiej, who made no reply.

A solicitor present told the court that she would ordinarily represent Siergiej, but due to the ongoing industrial action affecting criminal legal aid she was not in a position to represent the accused.

Siergiej has been charged with stealing a flower pot valued at €60 from Circle K, Laghety, on August 9, 2026. He faces a further charge of being intoxicated in a public place at the same location on the same day.

Siergiej is charged with stealing a cylinder night latch, valued at €30.99, from George Irwin & Sons, Donegal Town, on July 16, 2026.

He is further charged with stealing a bottle of wine, worth €12, from SuperValu, Glebe, Donegal Town, on July 4, 2026.

He is charged with stealing two bottles of vodka, each worth €20, from SuperValu, Glebe, Donegal Town, on May 11 and May 12, 2026, and with stealing camera accessories from a property at Railway Park, Donegal Town, on June 15, 2026.

Siergiej is charge with stealing 12 bottles of Coors, valued at €24, from O’Donnells Park, Donegal Town, on December 2, 2025 and with stealing Hendricks Gin valued at €41 on December 15, 2025.

He faces two charges relating to the theft of two bottles of whiskey, each valued at €33, from Centra, Drumlonagher, Donegal Town, on October 20, 2025, and with stealing two bottles of wine, each valued at €12, from SuperValu, Glebe, Donegal Town, on November 26 and October 23, 2025.

Siergiej faces a charge that he stole a cooked chicken worth €10 from SuperValu on November 12, 2025.

The defendant is charged with stealing €5 worth of Buzz Ball beer from Spar, Bridge Street, on September 8, 2025; with stealing €5.55 of mineral drinks from the same shop on August 29, 2025; €34 worth of groceries from Aldi, Donegal Town on July 8, 2025; a bottle of red wine worth €7.69 from Aldi on April 15, 2026; and a bottle of Captain Morgan and a microwave meal from Kernan’s Ballyshannon on June 27, 2026.

The accused man also faces a burglary charge relating to an alleged offence in 2023 when he was said to have entered a premises as a trespasser and committed and arrestable offence therein, namely the theft of an ornamental gun, two watches and an assortment of euro coins.

He also faces two further burglary charges relating to alleged offences in September 2024.

Siergiej has also been charged with driving without insurance and driving without a driving licence while he faces four further charges of public intoxication at different locations in Donegal Town in October 2025, April 2026 and two in June 2026.

Having initially indicated that there would be an objection to bail, Garda Sergeant Oliver Devaney told the court that the State was consenting to bail - but with conditions.

An interpreter was present in court to aid Siergiej while the conditions of his bail were outlined.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham said that while the accused man has accumulated quite a number of charges, he has the presumption of innocence until proven guilty.

Siergiej was granted bail, in his own bond of €200 nil cash, on condition that he: stay out of George Irwin and Sons and SuperValu; that he not commit any further offences while on bail; and that he attend AA in Donegal Town.

Judge Cunningham noted that the accused man was already barred from “a number of other premises”.

Judge Cunningham said that due to the number of charges, an early hearing date would be necessary.

Siergiej was warned by the Judge that if there was any breach of the conditions that an application would be made to revoke his bail.
