A man has appeared at court charged with breaching a domestic violence order on Wednesday in Letterkenny.

The man, who is in his 40s and cannot be identified due to the nature of the charge, was brought before Letterkenny District Court.

He is charged with breaching a safety order, contrary to section 33 (1) of the Domestic Violence Act, 2018.

Evidence of the man’s arrest, charge a caution was given to the court by way of schedule.

Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that there were no objections to bail.

The man was granted bail on condition that he signs on twice a week at Letterkenny Garda Station; be contactable 24-7 on a mobile phone; that he have no direct or indirect contact with any witness or alleged injured party; and that he stay away from a specified area of Letterkenny.

Judge Emile Daly adjourned the case to November for the man to plead guilty or seek a hearing date to contest the charge.
